Processing Facilities

We are among the best organic tea and spice producers in the world. The founder of Bio Foods (Pvt) Ltd., Dr Sarath Ranaweera (PhD) having strong educational background in Food Science & Technology & having gained experience as an International Consultant mainly in tea processing and research field since 1984, leads the team of Bio Foods for proper performance.

James Valley Organic Tea Factory - Kandy

‘Ceylon Cha’ special green tea is invented by Dr Sarath Ranaweera, Chairman of Bio Foods (Pvt) Ltd. A special technique is used to process this green tea that processes a light cup with very pleasant characters. Strong characters can also be obtained by selecting broken or fanning grades. BT2 and BT3 are high quality leafy grades that are appreciated by green tea lovers. Green fanning grades are mainly used for tea bagging purpose.

The factory equipped with our own tea bagging machine (MAISA) and special flavouring units to maintain high quality standards of all our consumer packs. Sri Lanka Tea Board has ranked this factory as one of the best factories in Sri Lanka by awarding CQC One Star under Quality Management System

Avonlea Hill Organic Tea Factory - Diyathalawa

This factory is located in the misty hills of Diyathalawa in the world famous Uva High Grown region of Sri Lanka. We have introduced many varieties of special organic and Biodynamic teas from this project with the co-operation of Small Organic Farmers' Association who supplies organic green leaf under Fair Trade concept. We are proud to introduce ‘Avonlea Hill Heavenly Special’ from this facility that is produced using very special processing techniques along with very selected leaf standard.

Initial Spice Processing Factory - Matale

Sri Lankan spices cultivated in the kandyan home garden in the central hills have good demand in the world due to their inherent quality characters. Organically grown spices from small scale producers are processed at this unit in Matale to minimize post-harvest losses and to maintain higher quality standards.

James Valley Spice Factory - Kandy

Research & development work has been carried out to produce high quality products by our professional team during last few years resulted in installing appropriate processing lines. Factory is recently expanded to accommodate large volumes of different raw materials simultaneously.

		Herbs Unit – Kandy
	Sri Lanka is famous for her traditional knowledge in ‘ayruvedic medicine’ and most of the herbs are used in many oral treatments due to its un-believable magical effect on human health. This has become a tradition and Sri Lankan’s used to drink herbs with Juggery, a traditional alternative sweetener for their healthy living. We add value to our traditional practices by growing herbs under organic conditions and processing them under hygienic and quality control systems. Herbal teas are presented in bulk form as well as in tea bag form from the same project.
